Planning Board hears proposal for 72-unit senior care facility at West Road
Planning Board · Meeting of August 5, 2026
NH CANTERBURY — Planning Board considers 72-unit senior care facility with significant emergency impact. The board heard a conceptual proposal from As Life Goes On, LLC for two buildings at West Road offering Assisted Living and Memory Care units at $5,000-$7,000 and $7,000-$12,000 monthly respectively. According to Fire Chief Mike Gamache's projections based on nearby facility data, the facility would generate approximately 100 emergency responses annually, increasing Canterbury's baseline call volume from 351 to 451, a 28 percent increase that will raise the town's Penacook Ambulance contract costs.
The project requires site plan approval, a Zoning Board exception, and driveway permit amendment; developers project two to three years to full occupancy.
