Selectboard reelects Doherty, confirms police payrate increases

Select Board · Meeting of April 21, 2026

NH CANTERBURY — Canterbury Select Board reelects Doherty, confirms police wage increases. The board unanimously reelected Scott Doherty as chair and confirmed 2026 wage increases for the Police Department over performance bonuses, on Police Chief Justin Crotty's assessment that wage certainty improves retention and recruitment. Selectman Calvin Todd preferred bonuses pending the department's completion of a long-term staffing plan, but the board proceeded with the wage approach.

The board also authorized payment of owed 2025 overtime to staff and hired Aries Engineering for $2,300 to complete the state-mandated landfill post-closure inspection.
