Historic Commission Approves ADA Accessibility Project At Canterbury United Community Church

NH CANTERBURY — The Canterbury Historic District Commission voted unanimously to approve an accessibility improvement project at Canterbury United Community Church, designed to make the main entrance compliant with Americans with Disabilities Act standards. Jim Sojka presented the proposal on behalf of the CUCC Board of Trustees, detailing an eight-foot granite slab entry platform, granite posts, and replacement of cracked walkways with improved drainage grading. Rev.
Becky Josephson, the church pastor, highlighted the importance of intentional, welcoming design rather than an afterthought approach to inclusion. The project may begin as early as October or November 2026, though custom granite fabrication and winter weather could push the start to Spring 2027.
