Canterbury approves major repairs at Shaker Village

NH CANTERBURY — Canterbury's Historic District Commission unanimously approved preservation work at four sites. The most substantial project involves three repairs at Canterbury Shaker Village: the Meeting House will undergo structural lifting, sill repair, and a new cedar shingle roof; the East House will receive sill and foundation repair with new wood storm windows and Alaskan yellow cedar roofing; and the Brethren's Shop will receive a renovated restroom with a new wood door. The Commission also approved barn roof replacement and window restoration at 2 Baptist Road and, with a waiver of public hearing for safety reasons, approved removal of seven trees at 40 Kimball Pond Road.
